Your calendar has a public page where people view events and subscribe. You control how that page looks: its name, description, color, cover image, timezone, the day each week starts on, and (on a paid plan) a branded appearance template. This article covers those visual and identity settings. To collect or gate access by subscriber, see Manage calendar subscribers.
Open the settings
From your calendar list, open the calendar you want to change, then choose to edit it. You will see the same form used when creating a calendar. Make your changes and click Update Calendar to save.
Name and description
Calendar Name is the public title shown on the calendar page. There is also an Internal Name field, which is private: only you and your team see it, so use it to tell similar calendars apart.
The Description appears under the name on the public page. You can format it with bold, italic, lists, and links to make it clearer. Rich text formatting in the description is a paid feature.
Color
The Calendar Color sets the accent color used on the calendar page. Pick one from the color options, or leave it empty and AddCal generates a color for you automatically. Setting a color is available on every plan.
Cover image
The Calendar Image is a cover image shown at the top of the calendar page. To add one, click Click to upload or drag and drop a file onto the upload area.
Accepted formats: PNG, JPG, and WEBP.
Maximum file size: 2MB.
Recommended ratio: 16:9 (for example, 1200x675 pixels). The image displays at its natural ratio without cropping.
To replace or remove an existing image, open the image options and choose Change Image or Remove Image. The cover image is a paid feature.
Timezone
Set the Timezone so event times on the calendar page show correctly. Start typing a city or region to find your timezone. This applies to every plan.
Week start day
Use Week Begins On to choose which day the calendar's week view starts on. You can pick any day of the week (for example, Monday or Sunday). This applies to every plan.
Default public view
The public calendar page has a List and a Calendar view, and a toggle so visitors can switch between them. The list view shows events as a scrollable agenda; the calendar view shows a month, week, or schedule grid.
You choose which view visitors see first by setting Default Calendar View (List, Month, or Week) on the appearance template applied to the calendar. See Branding and design templates. If no template sets a default, the page opens in the list view.
Appearance template
An appearance template (the Calendar Template field) lets you match the calendar page to your brand with custom colors, fonts, and layout. Templates are a paid feature.
To apply one, open the Calendar Template dropdown and select a template. Choose No template (team default will be used) to fall back to your team's default appearance instead.
You build and name templates separately, on the Templates screen in your dashboard, then select them here. Creating templates is covered in Branding and design templates.
To carry the same template over to the events inside this calendar, turn on Apply Template to Events. This automatically applies the calendar template to all of its events. This option is also part of the paid appearance feature.
Custom short link
You can give the calendar a branded short URL under Custom Short Link, in the form addcal.co/c/your-calendar. Enter the part after addcal.co/c/. Custom short links are a paid feature.
Save your changes
Click Update Calendar to save. Changes to the name, description, color, image, timezone, and week start appear on the public calendar page right away.
