Calendar subscribers are users who have added your calendar to their personal calendar applications (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, etc.).
Accessing Subscriber Management
Step-by-Step Navigation
Log into your Dashboard
Sign in to your AddCal account
You’ll see the main dashboard with sidebar navigation
Navigate to Calendars
Click “Calendars” from the sidebar navigation menu
This takes you to the calendars index page showing all your calendars
Select Your Calendar
Click on the specific calendar you want to manage
This opens the calendar details page (calendars.show)
Access the Subscribers Tab
On the calendar page, you’ll see 5 tabs: Events, Subscribers, External Sync, Analytics, Settings
Click the “Subscribers” tab to view subscriber management
The tab shows the total subscriber count in parentheses (e.g., “Subscribers (15)”)
Understanding Subscriber Information
Subscriber Table Columns
The subscriber management table displays the following information for each subscriber:
Basic Information:
Unique ID: A unique identifier for each subscriber (starts with “sub_”)
Status: Current subscription status (see status types below)
Type: Calendar service used (Google, Apple, Outlook, Yahoo, Office 365) with service icons
Country: Subscriber’s location with country flag
Sync Count: Total number of times the subscriber has synced the calendar
Last Synced: Timestamp of the most recent synchronization
Additional Information (if enabled):
Name: Subscriber’s name (only visible if “Require Information” is enabled)
Email: Subscriber’s email address (only visible if “Require Information” is enabled)
Subscriber Status Types
Active: Subscriber is actively syncing and has synced within the last 7 days
Inactive: Subscriber hasn’t synced recently (more than 7 days) or has never synced
Blocked: Subscriber has been manually blocked by the calendar administrator
Pending: Subscriber is in the process of setting up the subscription
Managing Subscribers
Available Actions
Each subscriber has an actions dropdown menu (three dots icon) with the following options:
Edit Subscriber (only available if “Require Information” is enabled and subscriber is not blocked):
Modify subscriber’s name and email
Update blocking status
Access via the pencil icon in the actions menu
Block/Unblock Subscriber:
Block: Prevents synchronization and removes all events from the subscriber’s calendar
Unblock: Restores synchronization access
Blocked subscribers are marked with red text and strikethrough styling
How to Edit Subscriber Information
Open the Edit Modal
Click the actions dropdown (three dots) for the subscriber
Select “Edit” from the menu
The edit modal will open showing current information
Update Information
Name: Modify the subscriber’s display name
Email: Update the subscriber’s email address
Block Status: Check/uncheck the “Prevent this subscriber from syncing” option
Save Changes
Click “Save Changes” to apply updates
The modal will close and the table will refresh with updated information
How to Block/Unblock Subscribers
To Block a Subscriber:
Click the actions dropdown for the subscriber
Select “Block” from the menu
The subscriber will immediately be blocked from syncing
Their status will change to “blocked” with red styling
All events will be removed from their calendar
To Unblock a Subscriber:
Find the blocked subscriber (marked in red)
Click their actions dropdown
Select “Unblock” from the menu
The subscriber will regain sync access
Events will be restored to their calendar on next sync
Key Features and Settings
Require Information Setting
The “Require Information” calendar setting determines subscriber data collection:
When Enabled: Subscribers must provide name and email before subscribing
When Disabled: Anonymous subscriptions are allowed, limited subscriber data is collected
This setting affects which table columns are visible and which actions are available
Subscriber Types and Services
AddCal supports subscribers from various calendar services:
Google Calendar: Google users syncing via CalDAV
Apple Calendar: iOS/macOS Calendar app users
Outlook: Microsoft Outlook desktop application
Outlook Web: Outlook.com web interface
Office 365: Microsoft 365 calendar services
Yahoo: Yahoo Calendar users
ICS: Generic ICS file downloads
Android: Android calendar applications
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Subscriber Not Appearing
Possible Causes:
Subscriber hasn’t completed the subscription process
Calendar has “Require Information” enabled but subscriber hasn’t provided details
Subscriber’s calendar app hasn’t synced yet
Solutions:
Wait for initial sync (can take up to 15 minutes)
Check if subscriber completed information form (if required)
Verify calendar URL is correct
Subscriber Shows as Inactive
Possible Causes:
Subscriber hasn’t synced in over 7 days
Calendar app has sync issues
Subscriber removed calendar from their app
Solutions:
Contact subscriber to verify calendar is still added
Provide fresh subscription link
Check for any blocking or access issues
Blocking Not Working
Possible Causes:
Subscriber’s calendar app has cached events
Sync hasn’t occurred since blocking
Solutions:
Wait for next sync cycle (typically within 24 hours)
Subscriber may need to manually refresh their calendar
Events should disappear after the next successful sync attempt
