Event Series is how AddCal handles recurring events. Instead of one repeating event, AddCal creates a set of related events that share the same base details but exist as individual instances you can edit on their own.
What an event series is
An event series is a group of events generated from a recurrence pattern. Each occurrence is a real, standalone event, so you can change one instance without affecting the rest.
This means a series gives you three things a single repeating event cannot: you can edit each occurrence independently, each one keeps its own RSVP list, and each one syncs to external calendars as its own entry.
Edit each instance independently
Every event in a series can be changed on its own. Move one meeting to a different location, adjust the time of a single session, or add details to one occurrence, and the other instances stay as they are.

Because each occurrence is an individual event, it syncs as its own entry to external calendars:

Adding a series to Outlook or Office 365
When someone adds one of your recurring events to Outlook or Office365 from your event page, they choose how much of the series they want:

For the series options, Microsoft asks them to sign in and give permission once, then AddCal writes the repeating event straight into their calendar as a normal editable event. They do not need an AddCal account, and nothing is connected permanently.
Some repeating patterns cannot be written to Outlook so that the dates come out right, for example a series where individual occurrences have been moved, or one that repeats on the fifth weekday of a month. Rather than save the wrong dates, AddCal offers Subscribe via calendar feed instead, which always shows the correct occurrences and keeps them up to date. The same fallback appears if the person declines the Microsoft permission prompt.
